Covid-19
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first known case was identified
in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease has since spread worldwide, leading
to an ongoing pandemic.
The coronavirus pandemic has left our country in chaos. Since 2019, coronavirus disease
The outbreak has occurred in 3 different waves leaving the whole country suffering. The pandemic has
deeply affected our country’s economy, education, transportation sectors, hospitality sectors,
small, medium and big businesses, startups and mental health of the citizens.
Adding all the cases from the first, second and third wave, Nepal has recorded 9 lakhs 75 thousand
covid cases in total where more than 11 thousands have lost their lives. If looked at the world
data, more than 40 Crore people have been infected from the virus while more than 58 lakhs
people have lost their lives. According to WHO there are total 5 variants of covid-19: Alpha, Beta,
Gamma, Delta and newly added variant omicron. These variants have been designated as
variants of concern by the world health organization (WHO).
One is identified as Covid positive if he/she tests positive in PCR or RT test. A PCR (polymerase
chain reaction) is a test to detect genetic material from a specific organism, such as virus. It is a fast
and an accurate way to diagnose coronavirus. One should do PCR test as soon as possible if he/she
has the following symptoms: fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, tiredness, diarrhea or
shortness of breath. There are a lot of best path labs in Nepal.
RT-PCR tests are not to be taken in ordinary labs as there is a possibility that the lab might not have
been approved and designated by the Nepal government. The test report of the labs which are not
designated by the ministry of health and population are of no use at the places where the Covid test
a report is mandatory even if you’re tested negative. For example: Nepal government has made it
mandatory for all travelers departing Nepal must provide a Negative PCR test result from the
laboratory or hospital designated and approved by Nepal government taken within 48 hours of
commencement of travel, regardless of their vaccination status. Now if you are tested negative and
all ready to depart but the Covid test is not from a laboratory designated by the Nepal government then
you will be stopped at the airport. Most of the Labs can provide cheap PCR tests in Kathmandu,
Nepal.
